The Sweetest Thing (2002)

I skipped this in theatres, but was pleasantly surprised when I finally caught The Sweetest Thing on video. I visited most of these locations nearly a decade ago, but just now getting to posting them as I finally found a key missing location earlier this year - but more on that later.

The opening montage takes place in several locations including Huntington Park and the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

Their apartment is located at 1151 Kerny Street / Peter Macchiarini Steps in San Francisco.

This is Fresno Street right next to the apartment.

The club entrance was at 501 Broadway (on the Kearny Street side) in San Francisco.

This was shot at the corner of Broadway and Kerny.

This is at the corner of Clay Street and Waverly Place in Chinatown in San Francisco.

This is the Point Richmond Tunnel at South Garrard Boulevard in Richmond, California.

Here they stop at the dress shop, located at 104 Washington Avenue in Richmond.

That darn truck was in the way of the perfect shot!

Most of the buildings look the same!

The bench across the street was in front of 105 Park Place.

Back the the Point Richmond Tunnel….

So my missing location for many years was the church. On the DVD commentary Selma Blair thought it was the Cruel Intentions church in Pasadena, but that wasn’t it. I was finally able to track it down to the Church of Our Savior at 535 West Roses Road in San Gabiel, California.

I met some great ladies who were having an event that day and were kind enough to let me into the church and grab some pictures.

“Turn around!”

This is a small building right by the main church.

“Shhhh… shhhh…”

“We’re not getting married!”

Back in Richmond at 101 Park Place.

And finally back at the apartment…
